On Riffusion you can generate full length, studio quality songs by simply prompting our models with an idea, a phrase, or a melody. Intro to Riffusion

Visit  https://riffusion.com  and use either your Gmail, Discord, or phone number to create an account. 

Create an Account

Once you’ve set up your account and logged in, you’ll be directed to the Home page. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll focus on the left navigation panel and settings. Details on the create bar, featured music, and personalization are fully covered in future sections.  Navigation Panel Explore Featured : This is the home page. You’ll find featured content including playlists, artist collaborations, albums, the song of the week, artist spotlights, and more. There is also a Trending section for both songs and playlists. You can toggle between Staff Picks and trending songs for time periods ranging from the past 24 hours to All Time. The “Live” tab shows you songs published chronologically in real time across all users on Riffusion. Following : Explore songs and playlists created by artists you follow. These are listed in chronological order, with the songs listed towards the top being the ones generated most recently.  Personalize : Our goal is to help you establish your personal sound as an artist on Riffusion. As you explore the platform, there are different actions you can take, such as creating your first song, sharing 3 invites, and favoriting 20 songs, to unlock levels of personalization. Depending on what type of sound you’re looking for, you have the ability to turn the personalization feature on or off. We’ll cover more details and best practices on this in the Personalization section.  Library Songs : Here you can see all of the songs you’ve ever generated and all of the songs across Riffusion that you’ve favorited.  Vibes : All of your saved Vibes will appear here. From this page, you can create a new Vibe by uploading a file, edit Vibe details, and remove a Vibe from your Library. Projects : Manage all of your Projects from one place. Create a new project, edit a project, remove a project (without deleting songs), and delete a project (and all of the songs in it).  Playlists : When you hover over “Playlists”, there will be a left-facing arrow. Click on that arrow to see a dropdown that lists all of the playlists you’ve created using Riffusion. If you have not yet created a playlist, nothing will drop down, but no worries! You can create a playlist by hovering over the “Playlists” section and selecting the “+” then adding songs from your library to it. If you click on “Playlists” directly, a collection of all of your playlists, listing the playlist name, number of songs, and playlist cover art will appear. Once you select a playlist, you’ll be taken to the playlist’s page which lists all of the songs included. On this page, you can play it, share it, change the privacy settings, copy it, favorite it, or delete it. 

Home Page

In this guide, we’ll walk through the features and functionality of  Profiles .  Accessing Your Profile You can access your profile by clicking on the round profile icon in the top right of the screen. Here you can find and update: Your profile picture Your header picture Your username Your bio It also shows: All of your published songs Your pinned songs (can pin up to 5) Your most played songs All of your published playlists The total number of plays you’ve received on your published and link-only songs The total number of likes you’ve received on your published and link-only songs Your total number of followers The total number of people you follow Only  Published  songs will appear on your profile.  If you aren’t seeing a song on your profile, but want it to be public, click on the three horizontal dots within the song panel, select  Privacy  and change the setting to  Public . This will publish the song to your profile under the  Songs  tab.  You can also publish a song by going to your  Library  tab in the left navigation panel, selecting a song, and clicking “Publish” on the right side of the screen. Updating Your Profile You can edit your profile by selected the “Edit Profile” button on your profile. Engaging with Other Artists’ Profiles Whether you discover an artist on Riffusion whose music you can’t stop listening to or want to engage with friends’ music, you have the ability to interact with people and their music in an entirely new way.  Below are a few ways to engage: Follow them : Next to the profile stats on the top right-hand side of the profile, you can select the purple “Follow” button.  Remix their songs : If you find a song you like and want to put your own spin on it, select the three horizontal dots in the song’s panel, then select  Remix  and you’ll see a few options: Create a vibe : Select a 10 second clip from their song and use it as a sound prompt within Compose. This is an entire new way to draw inspiration from an artist’s music. Trim : Select which portion of an artist’s song you want to keep using the sliders. Save a new version of a user’s song to your library, then create your on unique version of the song. Add to playlist : Add the artist’s song to your playlist. Download : Download an MP3, M4A, or WAV file. Get stems : Download vocals, drums, bass, and other stems.  Important Note : If you do not want other users to remix your song or use your prompts, don’t publish the song. Similarly, Members have the ability to turn off community remixing. Turning this feature off means that you will not be able to use any of the Remix features, create a Vibe with their song, or use Trim for their song. 

Profiles

In the top right hand corner of the site, you’ll see your rounded profile icon or picture. You’ll also see your username and the number of points you’ve gained towards your Personalization journey from using the app. If you select this picture, a drop down menu will appear with the following items: Subscription tier : Displays membership status Theme : Change the theme between dark and light mode Account Settings : Access your account settings here. More details below. Invite friends : Receive a personalized link to invite friends to explore Riffusion. Discord : Join us on Discord to engage with the entire Riffusion community, share your music, participate in challenges, and give feedback.  Docs :  Leads you to this site with guides that hopefully answer most of your questions about using Riffusion. If you have any additional questions or feedback, message us at hello@riffusion.com.  Learn more  information about:  Account Settings:  When you click into  Account Settings , there are four main sections: Account Here you can manage your account subscription, view plans, access the FAQ, and cancel your subscription. You can also toggle between Basic and Studio mode, turn on lyric moderation, and choose a light or dark theme as your default color mode.  Connected Accounts Any Google account, Discord account, and/or phone number you have connected will show here. You can also manually connect your accounts in this section.  In the bottom of this section, you can choose to log out or delete your account.  Studio Time In this section, you can see the amount of Studio Time you have available and a log of each time you gained more hours, whether through your monthly allotment or gifted hours. You can also buy more studio time to continue experiencing the joy of Riffusion. Member Perks This section is exclusively for those with Member subscriptions. Connect to the members-only Discord channel, submit songs for Staff Picks, and access our Merch store.

Community Guidelines

In the Create bar, the first functionality you’ll see is  Prompt .   As our most simple creation tool, Prompt allows you to describe any song you want to create using a text input.  For example, you can enter  jazzy k-pop song about a distant lover  or  new york style rap song about a cross-country road trip  and our model will generate two full-length songs in your Library. If you’re looking for creative inspiration, you can also click the “Random” dice icon in the bottom left of the Prompt box and it’ll randomly output a combination of genres. You have the option to add the generated song to an existing or new Project. Once you’ve entered your prompt and are ready to create your song, click  Generate  in the bottom right hand corner of the Prompt box. You’ll be taken to your Library as the song generates and once it’s done, you’ll see two new songs in your Library. Each generation creates a thumbnail picture and song title based on the topic of your song. Actions you can take after your song generates: Update the title : From your Library, click on the title. This will take you to your song page. Now you can click into the song title, edit it to whatever you’d like, click the checkmark icon, and it’s saved! If you want to keep the title we generated for you, just click the  x  icon instead.  Favorite : Love what you’ve created? Click the  heart  icon and the song will automatically get added to your “Favorites” in your Library.  Use vibe : Sometimes the best way to express how you want a song to sound is by referencing another track with the same style. Use this feature to select a 10 second clip that captures the essence and use the clip as an audio prompt. Remix : Use the song you just created and instantly use Cover, Extend, Replace, Swap Vocals, and Swap Sound to remix it. In upcoming sections, we’ll go into more details on these tools. You can also select “Use prompt” to have the exact prompt you used for the song populate into the Prompt or Compose tab.  Update privacy settings : By default, the song will only be accessible to  Anyone with the link . You can change this to  Only Me  or make it public by selecting  Publish . Copy link : If you’ve made a song you want to share, select  Copy Link  and it’ll be automatically added to your clipboard.  Add to a project : Whether you’re making an album or just perfecting a single song, use projects to organize your the songs in your Library. Add a song to an existing project or create a new one.  Add to a playlist : Create a new playlist inspired by the song or add the song to an existing playlist. Add to queue : If you don’t have any songs in the queue, the song you add will play next. If you have other songs in the queue, it will play after the current list.  Download : Save the song to your computer as an m4a file. Get stems : Download files for the individual components that make up the song, such as the drums, bass, or vocals.  Report : For whatever reason, if the song violates our company policy, please report it so we can look into the generation.  Delete : We hope that you like most of what you create, but understand that some songs may need to be deleted to clean up your Library or simply because it wasn’t that great. You can delete any song and it should be removed from your Library and our app.

Prompt

Our  Compose  feature was designed to give you more flexibility and artistic control in creating music. You’ll notice that the main difference between  Prompt  and  Compose  is the ability to separate the lyrics and sound, use our  Ghostwriter  feature, access advanced settings, use audio as a prompt, and update details (i.e. upload or prompt image). In this guide, we’ll focus on Lyrics, Ghostwriter, Sound, and the Details section. Advanced features and Upload are covered in future guides, so be sure to check them out too. Lyrics You have multiple options in this section: Instrumental  — To create an instrumental (song without lyrics), select the Instrumental toggle.   Ghostwriter  — This feature allows you to enter a topic or general direction for your lyrics, then leave the actual writing to us. Below are a couple of tips on how to use it: Custom Lyrics  — Enter your own lyrics and, experiment with structure tags like [intro] and [chorus] to indicate different sections of the song. Here are example tags. Sound Similar to  Prompt , in this section within  Compose  you can enter the type of genres and sounds you want the song to have.  Beyond just using a text prompt, you can also use a Vibe (10 second clip from a song) as an audio prompt to provide the general stylistic direction of the song.  Details Before the song generates, you can give it a title, upload an image or prompt for an image. 

Compose

In this guide, we’ll cover how to upload a file and how you can transform the file, specifically using our  Cover ,  Extend , and  Replace  features.  Uploading the File  In the bottom left hand corner of the  Compose  section, there’s an  Upload  button. You can upload MP3 and M4A file types. Although there isn’t a file size limit, we recommend uploading files less than 50 MB.   Once you upload your file, the audio file will appear in the Compose bar and you’ll be able to Remix it. The dropdown menu to the left of the audio allows you to specify which action you want to take to the file. We’ll dive into them in more detail in the next sections, but at a high level there are five options: Cover : Imagine a new remix. Create a different interpretation while drawing inspiration from the uploaded audio. Extend : We all have that one song we love that we wish was just a  little  longer. This gives you the ability to generate more once the uploaded song ends. Replace : Replace a section of the uploaded audio by dragging the slider and specifying which timestamps within the song you’d like to replace.  Swap vocals : Keep the original instrumentals and change only the vocals. Swap sound : Keep the original vocals and change only the instrumental. Next to the audio file, there are three stacked lines. Selecting them allows you to control  Variation  which is an indicator of how different the cover is from the original. Transforming the File After selecting the type of transformation you want to make on your audio and adjusting the settings, you’ll notice that the  Lyrics  section is populated with a transcription of the audio. A purple “Use transcribed lyrics” button will appear below the transcribed lyrics if the Lyrics section is already populated with other lyrics, so you can either select this or hit the “x” to dismiss it. You can also adjust these lyrics if you want to change them as part of your creative process or if there are errors. The  Ghostwriter  feature is available if you need some inspiration. Using the  Sound  prompt, you can describe the genres and general vibe you want to create. The prompts in  Lyrics  and  Sound  will apply to the full song for  Cover , the end of the song for  Extend , and the specific section you want to edit for  Replace .  In the next three sections, we’ll go into greater detail on how to use  Cover ,  Extend , and  Replace ,  Swap vocals , and  Swap sound . 

Upload

A  Cover  is our version of a remix — essentially giving an existing song a different feeling, sound, or new lyrics while still being inspired by the original audio.  Selecting a File There are three types of audio files you can use: An uploaded mp3 or m4a audio file A song directly from your Riffusion Library A published song in another artist’s Library If you make a cover of a song created by you or another artist on Riffusion, the original song will be citied directly above the title once it generates in your Library.  Making a Cover with Uploaded Audio In the  Compose  section, upload the file you want to cover.  Once it’s uploaded, go to the  Remix  section and  Cover  will be auto-selected. The audio file will populate for you to reference as you go through the process.  Edit the lyrics, sound, and adjust the settings to get the song you want. Making a Cover with Riffusion Songs Hear a song you like and want to make it your own? We’ve got you.  Click on the song title and you’ll be directed to the song page.  Under the the song title, click on the  Remix  button, then select  Cover . You’ll be directed to the  Compose  tab, then the lyrics, sounds, and settings used for the original song will populate the prompt box. You can follow the steps above to edit the lyrics, sound, and adjust the settings. If you want to cover a song and do not see that option it’s because the artist has turned off community remixing. Only Members have access to this feature.  In future guides, we’ll show you how to use the Advanced settings which will help you experiment with your cover even more. 

Cover

The  Extend  feature lets you take existing audio in a new direction by generating more from a certain timestamp or once the song ends. At this time, you cannot extend a song past 4 minutes. Selecting a File There are three types of audio files you can use: An uploaded mp3 or m4a audio file A song directly from your Riffusion Library A published song in another artist’s Library If you extend a song created by yourself or another artist on Riffusion, the original song will be citied directly above the title once it generates in your Library.  Using Extend with Uploaded Audio In the  Compose  section, upload the file you want to cover.  Once it’s uploaded, go to the  Remix  section and select  Extend . The audio file will populate for you to reference as you go through the process.  Use the purple slider to indicate at which point in the song you want the audio to extend from. For example, if you upload a 1 minute audio but want to extend the song from the 50 second mark, move the slider to start at 0:50. You can confirm where the song will extend from in the purple text that says “Extend after [time stamp].” Edit the lyrics, sound, and adjust the settings. The prompts will only be applied to the portion of the song that you extend from. If we stick with the example above, the prompts you enter will go into effect starting at 0:50. The rest of your song will remain unchanged and true to the original.  Using Extend with Riffusion Songs The process to extending a song is similar to making a cover with a song on Riffusion.  Click on the song title and you’ll be directed to the song page.  Under the the song title, click on the  Remix  button, then select  Extend . You’ll be directed to the  Compose  tab, then the lyrics, sounds, and settings used for the original song will populate the prompt box.  Add in the additional lyrics you want for the extended portion of the song in the prompt box. Follow the steps in the above section to edit the sound and adjust the settings. If you want to extend a song and do not see that option it’s because the artist has turned off community remixing. Only Members have access to this feature.  In future guides, we’ll show you how to use the Advanced settings which will help you experiment with your cover even more. 

Extend

Ever make an  almost  perfect song, but wish you could update a certain verse or hook? Replace  gives you the ability to replace a portion of the song—whether at the beginning, middle, or end—to give it a new vibe.  Selecting a File There are three types of audio files you can use: An uploaded mp3 or m4a audio file A song directly from your Riffusion Library A published song in another artist’s Library If you replace parts of a song created by you or another artist on Riffusion, the original song will be citied directly above the title once it generates in your Library.  Using Replace with Uploaded Audio In the  Compose  section, upload the file you want to cover.  Once it’s uploaded, go to the  Remix  section and select  Replace . The audio file will populate for you to reference as you go through the process.  Use the purple slider to indicate at which part of the song you want to replace. For example, if you upload a 2 minute audio but want to replace the part only from 0:30 - 1:00, move the slider to start at 0:30 and end at 1:00. You can confirm which section will be replaced using the purple text that says “Replace [time stamp].” Edit the lyrics, sound, and adjust the settings. The prompts will only be applied to the portion of the song that you replace. If we stick with the example above, the prompts you enter will go into effect starting at 0:30 and end at 1:00. The rest of your song will remain unchanged and true to the original.  Using Replace with Riffusion Songs The process to replace a section of a song is similar to making a cover and extending a song on Riffusion.  Click on the song title and you’ll be directed to the song page.  Under the the song title, click on the  Remix  button, then select  Replace . You’ll be directed to the  Compose  tab, then the lyrics, sounds, and settings used for the original song will populate the prompt box.  Keep all of the lyrics the same and just update the lyrics for the portion of the song you want to replace.  Follow the steps in the above section to edit the sound and adjust the settings. If you want to use Replace in a song and do not see that option it’s because the artist has turned off community remixing. Only Members have access to this feature.  In future guides, we’ll show you how to use the Advanced settings which will help you experiment with your cover even more. 

Replace

Reimagine your generations with a new voice or sound using Stem Swaps. Swap vocal and sound stems for an unprecedented level of control. Generate new vocals or instrumentals while keeping the other the same. This feature works with both songs on Riffusion and uploaded audio. If you're a singer who writes lyrics but doesn't have a producer, you can create full production around your voice recording—whether from your phone or a microphone. The same is possible for producers wanting to experiment with different vocals on their tracks. Using Stem Swaps with Songs on Riffusion Swapping stems can be done with your own songs and other artists’ public songs, as long as they allow community remixing on their song. Access the feature by clicking the three horizontal dots. From there, select  Remix  then choose either: Swap vocals : Keep the original instrumentals Swap sound : Keep the original vocals Inside of the Compose tab, use the  Sound  prompt to impact the new sound you are swapping.

For example:   Swap vocals  Swap sound   Using Stem Swaps with Uploaded Audio Creating new remixes of your own vocals or instrumentals just got a lot more fun! In the  Compose  section of the create bar, you can upload an audio file and select  Remix . Similar to the above process, you can either  Swap vocals  or  Swap sound .  Example use cases: Upload your vocals and build a song around your voice Create a beat and experiment with different vocals Remix your existing songs with new voices and instrumentals  Setting variation Use the slider icon next to the waveform to control the  Variation . Variation is how much your new stem differs from the original. Higher values towards 100% create bold new sounds, while lower values try to maintain the original style. For the most creative results, try 100% variation. The possibilities for this feature are endless, and this is another step towards more controllability in the creation process for artists. 

Stem Swaps

Create music inspired by the styles you love using audio directly as a prompt. Vibes lets you capture your favorite sounds that are difficult to describe in words. We think of Vibes as a new vocabulary for music creation. Getting Started with Vibes Create a Vibe:  from an existing song by clicking Use Vibe and selecting a 10-second clip Save your Vibes:  for later use by clicking the bookmark icon Upload your own audio:  in the Vibes tab, select a 10-second section, and add optional name/image/description Add Vibes:  to generations by including them in your sound prompt in Compose Combine multiple Vibes:  in advanced settings (up to 4), each with an optional sound prompt that can be helpful Creative Possibilities Capture a specific guitar solo, epic drop, or interesting texture that's hard to describe in words Reference vocal production styles from your favorite voices  Mix different genre elements by combining multiple Vibes Creating Vibes Go to the Vibes tab  in your Library sidebar Click "Create new vibe"  button with the "+" icon Upload audio  by selecting a file from your device Select a 10-second section  of your audio to use as a Vibe Add optional details  like name, image, and description for your Vibe Using Vibes from Existing Songs Browse songs  in your Library or from other artists on Riffusion Click "Use vibe"  button on any song you want to use Save the Vibe  by clicking the bookmark icon next to "Use vibe" Adding Vibes to Your Generations Go to the Compose tab Add a Vibe  by: Your Vibe will appear  in the sound prompt area with a vibe label  Using Advanced Mode with Multiple Vibes Toggle on "Advanced"  in the Sound section Add up to 3 different Vibes Optionally add a text prompt  with each Vibe for more control Adjust strength settings  as needed Sharing and Community When you publish a song  created with Vibes, the Vibes used will be visible Others can preview and use  these Vibes from your published songs Click "Use vibe"  on any published song to capture its Vibe for your own creation Tips for Best Results Choose Vibes with clear, distinctive elements you want to capture Sometimes a sound prompt can help guide the vibe in the right direction Try multiple generations to see different interpretations of your Vibes Use the strength slider to control adherence to your Vibe Known Issues Vibes are still experimental and you may get songs that are too long or have trouble with lyrics in some cases Vibes are not yet supported while remixing (Cover, Replace, Stem Swap)

Vibes

Projects are flexible workspaces that help you organize your songs. Create unlimited projects for different themes, moods, or works-in-progress, making it simple to find and manage your creations. Finding Your Projects Projects live in the left navigation panel: Look for the  Projects  option in the left navigation menu on desktop, and Library on mobile Click the dropdown arrow to expand and view your recent projects on desktop Go to the Projects page and select any project to view all songs within it Creating a New Project You can create a new project in a few simple ways: Click the  +  button on the projects page  Create a new project from the song context menu or create bar  Name your project, add an image and description, and click  Create   Adding Songs to Projects There are multiple ways to add songs to your projects: Add while creating : Generate songs directly into a project by selecting the project from the Create bar before you generate. The project will also be auto-selected in Create if you navigate to the project.  Song menu : Select  Add to Project  from the context menu on any song you own Drag and drop : Drag any song from your Library or another project and drop it onto a project name in the left navigation. Dropping the song will add it to the project.  Note:  adding a song to a project doesn't remove it from your Library, your songs will appear in both places. This flexibility allows you to put one song in multiple projects. You can safely remove a song from a project without deleting it from Library. You can also delete the song from your project which will also remove it from Library.    Managing Your Projects Projects are flexible and easy to modify: Add cover image : Click the project image placeholder and upload a custom cover to visually identify your project Rename : Click on the project name and select  Rename  to give your project a new title Add description : Click  Add description  below the project title to include notes about your project's theme or purpose Remove project : In the project menu you can remove the project but keep the songs in your Library Delete project : In the project menu, select  Delete  which will both delete the project and delete all the songs from your library  Project Ideas Projects can be used in many creative ways: One song:  Collect all iterations of one song as you refine it  Albums : Group songs that belong together for your next release Experimental space : House all your experiments in one place, and one click to delete them Date tracking : Create projects by week or month to track your musical progress Mood collections : Organize songs by genre or mood Sub projects : Within a project you can create other projects for specific tagging or status tracking

Projects

How to Access Starting from the Home page, click into the Create bar and select  Compose . On the right side of the Sound section, select the toggle that says  Advanced . If the toggle turns purple, you’ve unlocked the advanced features that we’ll dive into in the next sections.  Once you enable the Advanced toggle, you can add up to 4 sounds (including a negative prompt) and indicate how much influence each song has over different parts of the song using: Strength slider  — Sliding this control to the right indicates that you the sound to have more influence, whereas if you slide it to the left that indicates you want it to have less of an influence. If you have multiple sound prompts, use the sliders to tell the model which sounds you want to be more prominent sound during certain timeframes within the song.  Timestamps  — You can prompt for different sounds at specific times within the song. If you want a song to start off as a country ballad from 0:00 to 1:30 and then transition to a math rock song from 1:30 to 4:00, you can enter the start and end times within the respective sound prompt panels.  Based on how strong you want each sound prompt to be during the selected timeframe, you can increase  (slide right)  or decrease  (slide left)  the strength sliders.  Aside from using text prompts to describe the sound you want, you can use Vibes by selected  Add vibe . Create a new vibe by uploading your own audio or use one of your saved vibes. You can also use  Negative prompts  to steer away from concepts, and a Vibe can be used as a negative prompt.  If you add a sound and want to remove it, select the trash bin icon on the right side of the panel.

Sound Prompts

Within the Advanced Sound section, you can update the following: Model : Indicates which model you’re using to generate songs within Riffusion. You can update which model you’re using in the dropdown or click on your profile icon in the top right of the page. You may find that you prefer one over the other, so be sure to experiment. Lyrics Strength : Gives you the ability to set how closely you want the model to follow the lyrics you added in the Lyrics section. If you slide it towards the right, it will adhere more to the lyrics you entered. Sliding it to the left tells the model that you’re willing to deviate from the inputted lyrics. This can result in some fun and unexpected outcome, especially if you’re having writer’s block or just need some inspiration.  Weirdness : Indicates how experimental and chaotic your song will be—lower for more structured styles, higher for more creative directions. Weirdness at 0% could be more similar to a standard pop song. Weirdness at 100% can have unexpected results that push the bounds of creativity. You may love it or hate it, but either way, it’ll be  weird .  Seed : Changes the randomness in the generation algorithm. Different seeds with the same prompt will make different songs. Check out more details below. What is a seed? A seed is a number that controls the randomness in song generation. Without entering a seed, you'll get a different song each time - even when using the exact same prompt. When you set a specific seed number, you'll get the same exact song every time you use that seed with that prompt. This is useful in two ways: You can save a song you like by noting its seed number and generate the exact same song again later You can keep the seed number the same while changing parts of your prompt to create controlled variations of a song you like

Just as a violin changes over time when played by a great violinist, the more you use Riffusion, the more our model will understand your style and generate music with your aesthetic. Each one of us has different taste, and we hope Riffusion can both express your individuality and grow alongside you as an artist. 
In the Navigation panel on the left-hand side of the home page, you’ll find the  Personalize  tab.  Once you select it, you’ll be directed to an overview of your personalization journey. The first thing you may notice is the ability to  apply personalization  or not apply it to your song generations. Our hope is that the option to  not  apply personalization gives you the creative freedom to explore beyond your sound whenever you’d like. At the top of the page, we also highlight three stats: Points : Indicates how many points you’ve reached based on actions you’ve taken in the app. We also track how many points you have to go until you unlock the next level.  Streak : Number of days in a row you’ve created a song. Total Songs : Tracks how many songs you’ve created in the past 30 days for a more holistic view of your activity. How Personalize Works Based on the genres you prompt most frequently, which songs you favorite, and your listening behavior, the model begins to get an understanding of what styles and sounds you prefer.  You don’t have to do anything special to develop your sound aside from giving positive indicators (liking, generating, etc) or negative indicators (deleting) while you’re creating and listening to music in the app. How to Level Up Everyone starts at the Learning level, but as you level up you’ll unlock new features, experiences, and tiers of personalization.  We’ve listed several actions that you can take to level up, such as  creating your first song ,  making a cover ,   creating a playlist , and more. Once you accomplish all of the listed actions, you’ll reach the next level. Aside from unlocking new tiers of personalization, this hopefully becomes a fun way to guide you through exploring all of Riffusion’s capabilities.  Note that our model is still learning how to best generate personal styles, but the actions you take from today onward will help define your personal sound. This will start subtly, maybe even unnoticeably, but it will grow over time. We hope you love it, but of course you’ll have the choice of whether to use it or not in future generations. Overview

Each song generated in Riffusion has a unique song page that can be accessed by clicking on the song title. From here, you can take actions such as edit the title of your song, edit the cover art, view song details, see remix lineage, and view artist details.  Edit Song Title There are two ways to edit the song title from the song page: From the song page, click on the song title and make edits, then select the  check mark  icon to save them. If you don’t want to save the edits, click the  x  icon.  Under the song title, click in the three horizontal dots, then select  Edit details  and the cover art and song title will appear. Update the song title using the text box, then select  Update  to save the changes. Edit Cover Art Under the song title, click in the three horizontal dots, then select  Edit details  and the cover art and song title will appear. Update the cover art by selecting the edit icon in the bottom right hand corner of the current cover art, then upload the new cover art you want to use. Select  Update  to save the changes. Song Details Each song page gives an overview of the prompt, sound, and lyrics.   Artist Details Under the cover art, there’s a section on the song page called “More from [user]” that lists up to 5 additional published songs by the artist. If you want to check out the artist’s profile to explore all of their music, click on their username above the song title. Remix Lineage It’s now easier than ever to see the iterative craft that went into making a song. Open the Remix dropdown to see all the covers, trims, replacements, and extensions that led to the final track. It’s an amazing way to learn from the best creators on the platform, and keep track of your own work. Additional actions you can take from the song page: Favorite : Love what you’re hearing? Click the  heart  icon and the song will automatically get added to your “Favorites” in your Library.  Remix : Use the song you just created and instantly use Cover, Extend, Replace, or Sound Swap to remix it.  Use vibe : Sometimes the best way to express how you want a song to sound is by referencing another track with the same style. Use this feature to select a 10 second clip that captures the essence and use the clip as an audio prompt. Update privacy settings : If you’re on the song page of a song  you  created, then by default, the song will only be accessible to  Anyone with the link . You can change this to  Only Me , or  Publish  it to make it public to everyone.   Share : If you want to share the song, select  Copy Link  and it’ll be automatically added to your clipboard.  Add to a playlist : Create a new playlist inspired by the song or add the song to an existing playlist. Add to queue : If you don’t have any songs in the queue, the song you add will play next. If you have other songs in the queue, it will play after the current list.  Download : Save the song to your computer as an m4a file. Get stems : For any published song, you can download the files for the individual components that make up the song, such as the drums, bass, or vocals.  Report : For whatever reason, if the song violates our company policy, please report it so we can look into the generation.  Delete : If  you  created the song, you can delete it and the song will be removed from your Library.

Featured Banner At the top of our homepage, you can find a rotating set of playlists, songs, artist spotlights, event recaps, product announcements, model updates, and more. We try our best to keep up to date with what our community of artists are creating and to feature their great work. Staff Picks Each week, we update the homepage with Staff Picks for songs and playlists. There’s no rhyme or reason to what’s selected — we just love to feature music that’s creative, shows effort, and highlights the power of Riffusion.  How to be Featured The easiest way to be considered for a feature is to submit your music  here . You can also send our team a quick message with the link to your song or playlist to hello@riffusion.com.  Be sure to share it in the #share-riffs channel in our  Discord  and our team will do our best to listen to the music there.

On the homepage, under the Featured section, you’ll find trending songs over certain time periods. Next to Staff Picks, there are lists for  Today  ,  Week ,  Month ,  All , and a  Live feed .  Trending songs are based on a combination of listens, likes, and engagement from the Riffusion community.  Note : Songs must be Public in order to be featured.

Whether you’re jamming to your own songs or checking out featured music on the homepage, we encourage you to listen to music created on the app and gain inspiration to take with you as you develop your style & sound.   The Listening Experience When you click play on a song, a purple listening bar will appear at the bottom of the screen. Below are a few functionalities within the listening bar: Song page : Clicking the song title in the bottom left will direct you to the song’s page. This gives more details, such as lyrics and sound, for the song and shares more songs from the artist.  Play or pause : Play or pause the song. Previous song : The two arrows pointing left take you to the previous song in the queue.  Next song : The two arrows pointing right take you to the next song in the queue.  Repeat : The two rotating arrows allow you to put the song on repeat indefinitely or just once. If the arrowheads are completely white, it’s on repeat indefinitely. If the icon has a “1” on it, then it will repeat just once.  Queue : See the next songs coming up. Favorite : If you like the song, show it some love and favorite it! The song will appear in the Favorites folder within your Library. Volume : Increase or decrease the volume using the slider. Profiles If you hear a song that you like and want to explore more music from the artist, you can check out their profile. Select the artist’s username from the song page. From there, you can see their public playlists, riffs (songs), most played songs, total number of songs generated, total number of likes, and follower / following count.  Showing Support   The best way to show your support for another artist on Riffusion is to follow their page, “like” their songs, and share their music with others! 

Listening

Prompts are at the heart of how you interact with Riffusion because they tell the model what you want to hear, helping you generate unique, high-quality music.  This guide will give you some tips on how to craft clear and creative prompts for the best results. 1. Understand the Basics A prompt is your way of communicating with the model. Think of it as giving instructions to a composer or DJ. The more specific and descriptive you are, the better the model can interpret your vision. Good Prompt:  "Uplifting orchestral music with a strong violin lead and light percussion, suitable for a wedding." Less Effective Prompt:  "Nice wedding music." 2. Include Key Details Adding specific elements to your prompt gives the model clear direction. Consider including: Genre:  Classical, jazz, techno, lo-fi, etc. Mood/Emotion:  Happy, melancholic, energetic, peaceful Instruments or Sounds:  Piano, guitar, synths, strings Tempo and Style:  Slow ballad, fast-paced, groovy rhythm Example:  "A calm, ambient soundscape with soft piano chords, light synth pads, and ocean waves in the background." 3. Order Matters When describing your sound in  Prompt  or  Compose   the order in which you list each genre or sound determines how much it influences the song generation. Listing a sound first will make it the most prominent, so experiment with order to create new sounds.  Example :  Prompt 1: “K-pop, R&B, country twang” will skew more heavily K-pop than R&B and country Prompt 2: “R&B, country twang, K-pop” will sound more like an R&B track with country and K-pop influences 4. Experiment with Creative Language Use evocative and imaginative descriptions to inspire the model. Think beyond just technical terms to help convey a feeling or story. Example:  "A mystical, otherworldly tune with shimmering harp melodies and a dreamy, echoing atmosphere." 5. Iterate and Refine The first prompt might not always yield the exact sound you want. Don’t hesitate to refine and try a few times to land on something you’re proud of. Experimenting with phrasing or adding details can lead to some really cool outputs. Example: First attempt: "Energetic jazz." Refined: "A lively jazz piece featuring upbeat saxophone riffs, walking basslines, and syncopated drum patterns." 6. Create Song Structure In the Lyrics section of the Compose tab, you can create structure within your song by using tags such as  [Verse 1] ,  [Chorus] , or  [Bridge] .   Example :  [Verse 1]

How do I delete a song? Go to your  Library  and, within the song’s panel, select the  three dots  icon. The last option is a red Delete button. Once a song is deleted, you cannot retrieve it at this time except for the temporary Undo toast.  How do I create an instrumental? Prompt : Select the the instrumental toggle in the bottom left-hand corner of the Create bar. Compose : Select the the instrumental toggle in the top right of the Lyrics section of the Create bar. Riffusion uses Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to run our models and turn your prompts into music. When you subscribe to Riffusion’s Starter or Member Tiers, you’ll get access to a monthly allotment of Studio Hours, which can be used to power our most advanced features, Pro models, and lightning fast generation queue. Studio Mode You can think of Studio Hours as premium time you spend in the studio with world-class band members, engineers, and all the advanced features we have to offer. While in Studio Mode, you’re tapping into your Studio Time, and tasks will be processed as quickly as possible on our best GPUs. Studio Time is only deducted from your account for completed generations and tasks. How many songs can I make with each Studio Hour? Processing one basic song prompt on Riffusion takes about one minute of GPU time, so one Studio Hour can be used to generate approximately 60 songs. By using larger or multiple GPUs in parallel to process a task, we’re able to deliver music to you faster and keep you in a creative flow state.  Note that different tasks on Riffusion can use more or less Studio Time. Generating lyrics, using multiple sound prompts, or transforming uploads might require more time. Editing sections, stem splitting, and generating images often uses less. When do Studio Hours expire and refill? Studio Hours are reset on a monthly basis for paid subscribers. Note that any unused Studio Hours from your subscription do not carry over month to month. Limited Studio Time may be granted to free users on the Basic plan on an ad-hoc basis so that users may experience the best of Riffusion. What if I run out of Studio Hours? If you’re on a paid subscription, you can purchase additional Studio Hours from your account page. These additional hours are nonrefundable and they do not expire upon monthly renewals. Note that users on a Basic or Starter plan can upgrade to a Member plan at any point to receive additional Studio Hours. Basic Mode While in Basic Mode, your generations are processed in a queue, and will take longer to complete compared to those in Studio mode. Basic mode offers simple usage of our base models like 0.8 and 1.0. Depending on global usage of the Riffusion platform, your generations may process immediately or take several minutes. Your priority in the Basic queue may depend on how much you have used the tool, and some features may not be available when in Basic mode. At Riffusion, we believe everyone should be able to play this new instrument, regardless of financial means, so we are making Basic Mode generations unlimited on our free tier.  Switching modes You can switch between Studio and Basic modes, and see your remaining Studio Hours, by clicking on your Profile icon. When you have Studio Hours available, Riffusion will default to using Studio Mode when you come to the site. Studio Time and Basic Mode

Starter and Member plans If you made a song while subscribed to a Starter or Member plan on Riffusion, then you are contractually permitted by Riffusion to distribute it to other platforms commercially, subject to any legal limitations imposed by, for example, copyright law or third party contractual limitations, about which Riffusion makes no representations or warrantees. However, it is your responsibility to adhere to the terms of other services that you share your songs on. We transfer any ownership interest we may have in the songs you create while on a Starter or Member plan, and you retain any such ownership even if your subscription ends. However, given the nature of generative AI, we cannot guarantee that the song qualifies for copyright protection. While we would appreciate if you told the world how you used the tool in your creative process, you are not required to attribute to Riffusion songs you made while on the Starter and Member plans. Note that you must hold sufficient rights to all the inputs used to create any songs that you commercialize. Do not attempt to distribute any song made by remixing another user’s song or using lyrics from another artist without adequate rights from them. Songs from beta period If you currently have an active Member annual subscription plan, you may request commercial use rights for up to three songs created during the beta period ending 4/23/25. All requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and there is no guarantee of approval. This program may be modified or discontinued at any time, and all songs must be compliant with our  Terms of Service . To submit a request, email your information and song links to  betasongs@riffusion.com . Free plans If you made a song while on a Free plan, under our terms of service you may use that song only for non-commercial use and the song cannot be monetized. If you share a song you made while on a Free plan to any third-party apps, websites, or platforms for non-commercial purposes, you must include an attribution that clearly states that the song was generated using Riffusion. Upgrading to a Stater or Member plan does not retroactively give you commercial use rights to songs you made while on the Free plan. Commercial vs Non-Commercial use Examples of non-commercial use include: Listening to songs on Riffusion or downloading them to listen elsewhere Sharing the link to a song or a downloaded file with friends and family Using your music on other non-monetizing platforms Examples of commercial use include: Selling songs from Riffusion Adding songs to a monetizing channel on YouTube Putting Riffusion songs on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, etc. Licensing songs in film, tv, or video games See our  Terms of Service  for detailed information regarding to your use of outputs from Riffusion. 

Song Usage

Are the songs I make copyrighted? Copyright laws regarding protection for AI-generated works may differ from one jurisdiction to another, and Riffusion cannot offer specific guidance on copyright matters. While we do not restrict you from using songs you make while subscribed to Starter or Member plans for your commercial purposes, that does not mean they are eligible for copyright protection. We suggest you consult an attorney about the latest developments and the scope of copyright protection available to you. Can I use copyrighted materials in the music I make? No. You must not use any third-party copyrighted material in the music you make on Riffusion unless you have explicit permission from the copyright owner to do so. When appropriate, it is our policy to disable or terminate accounts of users who infringe upon the copyrights of others. Membership includes significant Fast hours, early access to premium features, and members-only community benefits. Since members are the heaviest users of Riffusion’s GPU resources, this tier is priced accordingly. Some artists embody the spirit of Riffusion but face barriers to Membership. Our mission is to empower anyone who wants to learn this instrument, which is why we offer unlimited Relax mode generations for free to everyone. And we’ve gone one step further—offering pathways for a limited number of users to earn Member status at a discounted rate through the following programs: Riffusion Student Scholarships Riffusion Artist Partnerships Riffusion Community Scholarships Scholarships and partnerships are extremely limited and awarded on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion. Once you’ve set up your account and logged in, you’ll be directed to the Home page. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll focus on the left navigation panel and settings. Details on the create bar, featured music, and personalization are fully covered in future sections. 

: This is the home page. You’ll find featured content including playlists, artist collaborations, albums, the song of the week, artist spotlights, and more. There is also a Trending section for both songs and playlists. You can toggle between Staff Picks and trending songs for time periods ranging from the past 24 hours to All Time. The “Live” tab shows you songs published chronologically in real time across all users on Riffusion.

: Explore songs and playlists created by artists you follow. These are listed in chronological order, with the songs listed towards the top being the ones generated most recently. 

: Our goal is to help you establish your personal sound as an artist on Riffusion. As you explore the platform, there are different actions you can take, such as creating your first song, sharing 3 invites, and favoriting 20 songs, to unlock levels of personalization. Depending on what type of sound you’re looking for, you have the ability to turn the personalization feature on or off. We’ll cover more details and best practices on this in the Personalization section. 

: Here you can see all of the songs you’ve ever generated and all of the songs across Riffusion that you’ve favorited. 

: All of your saved Vibes will appear here. From this page, you can create a new Vibe by uploading a file, edit Vibe details, and remove a Vibe from your Library.

: Manage all of your Projects from one place. Create a new project, edit a project, remove a project (without deleting songs), and delete a project (and all of the songs in it). 

: When you hover over “Playlists”, there will be a left-facing arrow. Click on that arrow to see a dropdown that lists all of the playlists you’ve created using Riffusion. If you have not yet created a playlist, nothing will drop down, but no worries! You can create a playlist by hovering over the “Playlists” section and selecting the “+” then adding songs from your library to it. If you click on “Playlists” directly, a collection of all of your playlists, listing the playlist name, number of songs, and playlist cover art will appear. Once you select a playlist, you’ll be taken to the playlist’s page which lists all of the songs included. On this page, you can play it, share it, change the privacy settings, copy it, favorite it, or delete it.
